Final Fantasy XII- PS3/XBOX360

so i noticed I’ve been lacking some video game content on here for a while. haha i realized that a while ago i posted about FF versus 13 but never did the normal one. lol so here we go!

Published by: Square Enix
Release Date: Japan- Winter 2009    US-April 2010
Genre: Action RPG

Review: Overall this game looks like it will be amazing. A lot of people tend to be complaining that it’s getting a dual release on Xbox and ps3. I’m some what excited for it though seeing as I’ll be buying another Xbox in for the October for release of Forza 3. i shouldn’t have sold my old one last year :(. also square-enix hinted at the fact that since the FF(final fantasy) has always originally been exclusive to Playstation, they might do something to keep their fans happy. maybe Japanese audio with English subtitles? who knows… anyways so far this game looks and sounds amazing! right now there’s a demo of the Japanese version that can be purchased if you buy the new Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children blu-ray disc. I’ll post a link to a current update on FFXIII on IGN’s website

Plot: The plot focuses on the fal’Cie beings created from the crystals residing inside them. The people marked by the fal’Cie for a greater purpose are named the l’Cie. But being a l’Cie has a price; for should they die before fulfilling their Focus, they will turn into monsters called "Cie CorpsesSome thirteen centuries ago, a fal’Cie constructed a paradise for humanity: The shell-like city of Cocoon floating high above the surface of the world now known as Pulse, both maintained by their own fal’Cie. Cocoon’s fal’Cie created life forms and machines for its inhabitants to use, and humanity flourished. Over time, the people of Cocoon began to fear for the safety of their world, and were worried that it would be cast down from the sky into the hell that they see Pulse to be.

In present day, the wilderness of Pulse has strange effects on people, and the theocratic Cocoon Sanctum quarantines and exiles anyone who has been influenced by Pulse from the city with the help of its mighty army, PSICOM. However, as Snow leads Team Nora in a vain attempt to stop the purging, the mysterious Lightning fights her way past PSICOM soldiers to find Pulse’s fal’Cie with the aid of Sazh. But by a chain of events, these three along with two of the Purgees, Vanille and Hope, are chosen by the fal’Cie of Pulse against their will to become l’Cie among others, and with that become enemies of humanity that would bring about the downfall of Cocoon.

Alright alright, I know what you’re thinking, ‘Great, another Final Fantasy post’ …probably more sarcastic though, but! This Final Fantasy game is different from all the others simply because its a straight brawler. The production for this game started back in 2007 and has been moving fairly slow, I didn’t even hear about it till late into 2008. The game features the main hero and villain from each Final Fantasy game all the way up to FFX. Yes, this means we get to see Cloud and Sepiroth again for all you FFVII people. The character art is slightly different than the character’s original art, but its still pretty easy to tell who is who, however there is a reason to that, Takeshi Arakawa explains;

“This game has been produced by the Kingdom Hearts team; when the Kingdom Hearts games were made, there was a very clear consciousness about doing action games, which were new to us. The team had the same mission to create an action game, but with a Final Fantasy theme. So basically Dissidia is a Kingdom Hearts game with some battle features in it.”

There still is a story to the game, after all what would Final Fantasy be without a story? I can’t really explain the story any better than they have already.

“Cosmos, the goddess of harmony. Chaos, the god of discord. Reigning from distant realms, the two gods had gathered warriors from all lands to lead them in savage war. Cosmos and Chaos were of equal strength. It was believed the conflict would last forever. However, the balance is now broken. Those who answered Chaos’s call created an inexhaustible force. And under vicious attack without relent, the warriors fighting for Cosmos started to fall one by one. The conflict that has continued for eons is now about to end in Chaos’s favor. The world has been torn asunder, sinking into a vortex of disorder. As for the few surviving warriors. their fates have yet to be determined.”

imageWhen I think of Fighting games I tend to think of Smash Brothers or Tekken, but this one is a little different.  Like Tekken and Street Fighter you are pitted against another character in a one on one match (as can be seen in the image to the right featuring Tidus vs Jecht, both from FFX) and in a 3D environment at that. But since its not a regular Final Fantasy game the battle system has been revamped and a lot of the little stuff has been taken out or replaced, MP (Magic Points) for example. MP has been replaced with BP, or Brave Points, that work kind of like a Limit Break and provide the character with more power when the bar fills up.

Check out the Trailer below…might just be me but I got chills.

Final Fantasy XIV

man i’m just having a field day with other peoples posts!! haha so yeah, here’s another post taken from Darrick’s Blog over at carbonkrylon.nissanpacific.com! he did a follow up review on FF14 after i had posted about FF13 coming to the PS3. well anyways i’ll add on some other stuff to the end, but here’s what the post entailed.

finalfantasyXIV

You’ve heard the hype about Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy (Versus) XIII but have you heard about Final Fantasy XIV? I saw the trailer for this game (included at the bottom of the post) when I was reading the IGN’s “History of Final Fantasy” and was actually quite surprised myself.

Just in case you haven’t heard about Final Fantasy XIII you can check out a brief synopsis on Domofactor’s blog or just click here. Since he did a pretty good job covering it I’m not going to say anything other than the fact I can’t wait to play it. (I still haven’t finished Final Fantasy X or XII and just started the original digitally re-mastered version on my PSP.) Final Fantasy XIV is another Online game just like Final Fantasy XI. I myself have never played XI due to the fact I hate joining MMORPGs late in their lifetimes. Hopefully I’ll have a PS3 before XIII Versus comes out because I’d hate to miss this.

Final Fantasy XIV takes place in a world called ‘Eorza’. The monsters in the world represent the same ones from XI but have been altered to fit the new world.  I believe my favorite thing about this is the fact you get to create your own Final Fantasy Character (which those who have played XI already know) but for those who have played XI, there’s a chance you can transfer your data to the new game, but Square Enix isn’t completely positive.

Brief ADD Moment – Apparently XI’s story isn’t done yet and Square Enix still has another year of content planned…maybe I’ll pick it up…

Anyway, World of Warcraft diehards rejoice (I’m not one of them) but apparently WoW has had a slight influence on Final Fantasy XIV. As I promised, there’s a trailer below along with the source of information above if  you want a more professional article.

So if you’re a Playstation fan you’ve probably at least heard about or played as series called Final Fantasy. Well, for all you guys complaining that there’s no point to getting a PS3 because there’s no games, prepare to eat those words!! here’s a synopsis of FFXIII versus and a trailer to spark your interests.

Thoughts:

This game should be EPIC! one thing that really pushed me to liking this game even more is the fact that alot of the cast that worked on the FF7 game came together for this one. it gives the game that awesome dark, mysterious aura to it, and the characters seem to fit right in. i’m super excited and can’t wait to pop this game in my ps3 this winter hopefully!!

Summary:

Final Fantasy Versus XIII (ファイナルファンタジー ヴェルサスXIII, Fainaru Fantajī Verusasu Sātīn?) is an action role-playing game developed and published by Square Enix exclusively for the Sony PlayStation 3 video game console. Alongside Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Agito XIII, the game is a part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy XIII compilation. Unveiled at E3 2006, the game focuses on a mysterious protagonist who is the last heir of a dynasty ruling over the only remaining city to control crystals. Under unforeseen circumstances, he makes a stand against marauders seeking to take the crystal as their own.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII is, according to its developers, a wholly independent story unfolding with different characters and a different visual design. Although it is set within the same Final Fantasy XIII universe, it is unrelated to any other entry within the compilation and is thus neither a sequel nor a prequel to any other entries in Fabula Nova Crystallis: Final Fantasy XIII.
